The Government of Armenia approved a simplified procedure for compensating the cost of return airline tickets for RA citizens returning from the conflict in the Middle East at its meeting on May 27. So far, citizens have submitted about 500 applications to the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Financial volumes and limits According to the draft prepared for the Executive Committee meeting, the applications received include both individual and family (for 2-5 persons) applications. Preliminary estimates indicate that around 450 million drams (approximately 1.2 million dollars) will be required from the state budget for the full payment of compensations. Some applications have already been approved, while the rest are under discussion at the MFA.
Within the framework of the program, a maximum compensation limit has been set — up to 250 thousand drams (approximately 660 dollars) per person. This support is intended for citizens who have been forced to purchase return tickets at inflated prices due to the outbreak of conflict in the region.
Conditions and application procedure There are clear restrictions for providing compensation: payment is made exclusively if the passenger has not received any other compensation from the airline or travel agency. This program can also be utilized by Armenian students in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Israel.
Applications are accepted digitally via the e-request.am state portal. Citizens must submit their application to the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attaching the necessary documents, including the original or electronic version of the purchased airline ticket and the payment confirmation document.
