Thanks to state funding and the expansion of screening programs, cases of breast cancer detected at stage 4 (advanced) in Armenia have decreased from 40% in 2018 to 13% by 2025-2026.
By the numbers
>1600 — the number of new cases recorded annually in Armenia.
~30% — the percentage of women responding to invitations for screening tests (most still miss the opportunity for early detection).
1500 women — have benefited from expensive targeted medications provided by the state (“Trastuzumab”) since 2020.
up to 1.2 million drams — annual medication provision for patients in the metastatic stage under universal insurance by 2026.
50% co-payment — the state's share compared to previously fully paid (~500,000 drams) PET scans and radiosurgery.
Why is this important A radical change in the financial accessibility of treatment allows for the prevention of disease complications and ensures early recovery.
