The number of visits to museums in the Republic of Armenia has increased by 40 percent compared to 2021. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS) Zhanna Andreasyan at today's government meeting on May 27:
Visit Statistics According to the Minister, last year the museums of the republic recorded 1 million 353 thousand visits. Moreover, the mentioned figure does not include the data from the European event 'Museum Night', during which more than 200 thousand people visit cultural institutions in just one day. Zhanna Andreasyan assessed the mentioned indicators positively.
Qualitative Changes and International Cooperation The head of the department emphasized that there are qualitative changes in the field that should serve as a basis for fundamental reforms. International cooperation was noted as a key direction for development:
“Here, international collaborations are very important because from the quality of exhibition coordination to their presentation, marketing policy, they also require capacity development,” the Minister explained.
The Economic Component of Culture Addressing the perceptions in the sector, the MoESCS Minister emphasized the importance of changing approaches. According to her, the previously prevailing notion that the culture sector cannot have an economic impact and should be solely under state care has changed, modernizing the role of culture as a sector with economic impact.
