The passage procedure through the Hormuz Strait will change

The conditions and legal regime for the passage of ships through the Hormuz Strait will undergo structural changes, and from now on a new order will be established in the region. This was announced by Ali Bagheri, the deputy secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council. The information is reported by TASS agency:

Context of the statement The Iranian high-ranking official expressed this position within the framework of the International Security Forum I, held under the auspices of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

“As for the Hormuz Strait specifically, the conditions and order of passage through the strait will certainly not be the same as before. A completely different order will be established,” Bagheri noted, without specifying the technical details of the new legal regulations or restrictions:

Strategic significance The Hormuz Strait is one of the key nodes of global energy logistics, through which a significant portion of maritime oil transport (about 20%) passes. Any change in the legal regime of the strait or tightening of control has a direct impact on international hydrocarbon markets, freight insurance rates, and the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
