According to analysts from the American consulting firm “Challenger, Gray & Christmas,” since 2023, around 192,000 jobs have been cut in the US due to the implementation and use of artificial intelligence (AI). Moreover, more than 60% (120,100 jobs) of these cuts occurred from January to September 2026.
Why this matters. The job losses due to artificial intelligence are exponential in nature, multiplying year by year. In the first 9 months of 2026, AI-related job cuts accounted for 21% of the total job losses recorded in the US.
Dynamics of job cuts and peak figures.
2023. 4,200 jobs cut.
2024. 12,700 jobs cut.
2025. 54,800 jobs cut.
2026 (January-September). 120,100 jobs cut.
Largest wave. A record figure was recorded in May 2026, when 38,600 people lost their jobs in just one month due to AI.
